The Bose F1 Model 812 Flexible Array Loudspeaker is a powerful, self-powered, two-way portable PA system designed for professional sound reinforcement. It delivers high-SPL performance up to a 132 dB peak, driven by a 1000-watt bi-amplified Class-D system. Its transducer configuration is unique, featuring a high-output 12-inch LF driver for robust bass, complemented by an array of eight 2.25-inch mid-high drivers. This design allows for a much lower 600 Hz crossover point compared to traditional speakers, ensuring superior clarity and natural fidelity in the critical vocal and midrange frequencies across its full 48 Hz-16 kHz frequency range. In other words, it's great for karaoke!

The defining feature of the F1 Model 812 is the FLEX Array technology, which allows us to manually adjust the vertical coverage pattern into one of four distinct shapes: Straight, J, Reverse-J, or C. This innovative design enables the loudspeaker to physically adapt its sound dispersion to the venue, optimizing sound delivery for audiences whether they are on a stage, on the floor, or seated in raked bleachers (unlikely for karaoke, but you never know!). The system automatically adjusts its internal EQ when the array is reshaped to maintain optimal tonal balance.

Bose F1 Subwoofer

The Bose F1 Subwoofer is a compact, self-powered bass module engineered to deliver the performance of a much larger bass enclosure while maintaining exceptional portability. It boasts a substantial 1000-watt Class-D amplifier to power its dual 10-inch high-excursion drivers. This configuration allows it to produce deep, impactful bass with a remarkable frequency range extending down to 38 Hz and a maximum peak SPL of 130 dB, ensuring powerful, venue-filling low-frequency extension for any portable PA system. It can, and does, shake the walls!

Beyond its raw power, the F1 Subwoofer is rich with professional features designed for seamless system integration and mobility. It includes an integrated mounting stand that tucks away neatly into the enclosure, which is used to safely and securely mount the F1 Model 812 array loudspeaker directly on top, eliminating the need for external speaker poles and stands. We also think it looks better. The subwoofer offers essential audio controls, including a Line Output EQ that enables a high-pass filter (HPF) or full-range signal to be sent to daisy-chained speakers.

The F1 Subwoofer is an excellent option for professional karaoke, where the music tracks often contain significant low-end elements that elevate the performance's energy. Its 1000 watts of power and deep frequency response provide the necessary "thump" and richness that standard full-range speakers lack, making the backing music feel full and engaging. Crucially for us, the entire system is designed for quick, clean setup: the subwoofer's compact form factor and relatively light 57 lb weight make it easy to transport, and the integrated stand ensures a stable, professional look with hidden cable channels, making it a powerful, all-in-one low-end solution.

Shure SM58 Microphone

The Shure SM58 is the quintessential choice for any karaoke setup, owing its popularity to its legendary durability and consistently warm, classic vocal sound. Technically, it is a dynamic microphone with a cardioid polar pattern (50 Hz-15 kHz frequency response) that is engineered with a gentle mid-range boost and a bass roll-off, a response tailored to make a singer's voice sound full and easily cut through a music mix. We've also chosen the SM58 for its extreme robustness - it can handle being dropped or rough-handled without issue, though please try not to! Perhaps most importantly, though, the SM58 has a forgiving sound quality, which flatters a wide variety of voices. Our Shure SM58 microphones are also legitimate - it is one of the most counterfeited microphones in the world (go check eBay), and so we take care to ensure that ours are genuine by purchasing them directly from authorized dealers.

sE Electronics V7 Microphone

The sE Electronics V7 is a more modern alternative to the SM58, making it ideal for the karaoke singer seeking superior clarity. Featuring a specialized Supercardioid polar pattern and a wider frequency response (40 Hz-19 kHz) from its innovative aluminum voice coil, the V7 is better at isolating a vocalist from loud backing tracks and audience noise, providing a higher amount of gain before feedback. A singer should choose the V7 if they perform in particularly loud or acoustically challenging venues, as its tighter pickup pattern and shockmount system will minimize ambient room sound and handling noise. Furthermore, its brighter, more open high-end sound will allow a singer's voice to sound more articulate and detailed in the mix. Besides, look at it - it's red! This is our new favorite microphone between the two. Try it out sometime!

Mackie ProFX12v3+ Mixer

The Mackie ProFX12v3+ mixer is an exceptional choice for professional karaoke due to its blend of high-fidelity audio, robust features, and versatile connectivity. At its core are Mackie's renowned Onyx preamps, which provide ultra-low noise and high headroom, ensuring crystal-clear vocal reproduction, critical for karaoke where vocal clarity is paramount. The mixer's 2x4 24-Bit, 192 kHz USB interface is a standout feature, delivering pristine digital audio quality for playback of karaoke tracks. Additionally, the built-in single-knob compression on our microphone channels is invaluable for karaoke; it helps to smooth out dynamic peaks and valleys in vocal performances, resulting in a more polished and consistent sound that makes every singer sound their best.

320kbps Audio Recordings*

For professional karaoke, 320kbps MP3 audio stands out as an excellent choice for high-quality music reproduction, striking an optimal balance between file size and sonic fidelity. At this bitrate, MP3s retain an immense amount of detail from the original uncompressed audio, often indistinguishable from lossless formats to the average ear, particularly in a live, amplified setting. The psychoacoustic models used in 320kbps encoding are highly effective at preserving the full frequency spectrum and dynamic range of music, ensuring that backing tracks sound rich, full, and energetic, with crisp highs and deep bass. This clarity and presence are crucial for karaoke, as they provide tracks that sound professional and engaging without the storage demands of uncompressed files.

* Note that one possible exception to our audio quality standards is the KaraFun digital subscription catalog. While we think the KaraFun music tracks sound acceptable, their exact audio quality is unknown as KaraFun does not disclose their audio encoding practices.

Fair Treatment

Being karaoke enthusiasts ourselves, we know how frustrating it can be to get skipped in the rotation, to have your song changed without being asked first, or to catch some attitude from the KJ. Not here! We enjoy our karaoke gigs, and you can see it in the way we treat our singers. We're happy to be here, and we want you to be happy too!

On top of that, we've engineered our "Sing" Platform to do most of the hard work of keeping things fair for everyone. Our platform tracks individual singers, and ensures that each singer gets one turn per rotation. Whether or not you sign up solo, in a group, or both, you will get a turn to sing each round. Hooray for fairness through technology!

Finally, to make things even better, we don't accept tips to skip ahead in line or sing more often - though we're happy to accept tips if you just happen to think we're awesome. We think we're pretty awesome, but we're admittedly biased.

Positive Atmosphere

Everybody comes to a karaoke night to have a good time. We're here to facilitate that!

While it isn't normally a problem, we strictly enforce a positive atmosphere policy by prohibiting any negativity, such as booing or heckling other singers. Sing without worry! Additionally, we're happy to give shout-outs for birthdays, anniversaries, or other special occasions. Just let the KJ know, and we'll make it happen!
